Setting dashboard filter defaults
Everyone's dashboards should count the same things. Dashboard Filters is an administrator setting that decides, across the whole workspace, which findings are included in your dashboard totals, KPIs, and charts — for example, whether informational findings or already-fixed findings should count.
This is different from the filters each person applies while viewing a dashboard (see Reading your dashboard). Those are temporary and personal; this setting changes the baseline numbers for everyone.
In the left navigation, under Exposure Management → Admin → Dashboard Filters (administrators only).
What it's for
- Decide what "counts" — include or exclude findings by severity and by state, so dashboard metrics reflect the posture you care about.
- Keep everyone consistent — the setting applies to all dashboards for all users, so screens and reports agree.
- See the impact before you save — a live summary shows how many findings are included versus excluded as you change the settings.
The controls
The page is headed Dashboard Visibility Filter and lays out as:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Enable Filtering | Turns the workspace filter on or off. When it's off, every finding counts. |
| Severities | Toggle each severity card — Critical, High, Medium, Low, Info — in or out of dashboard metrics. Each card shows its total count and an Included/Excluded badge. Include All and Exclude All buttons set every severity at once. |
| States | Toggle each finding-state card — Active, Resurfaced, and Fixed — in or out. Excluding Fixed, for example, makes dashboards show only outstanding work. |
| Impact Summary | Three totals (Total Vulnerabilities, Shown on Dashboard, Hidden from Dashboard), plus a Breakdown by State table with a Total/Shown/Hidden column for each state. The severity cards above already show their own total and included/excluded status, but don't get a separate per-severity hidden count in this summary — only the state breakdown does. |
| Save Filter Settings | Applies the settings for the whole workspace; dashboards refresh to match. |
If these settings have been saved before, the page also shows who last changed them (by email address) and when. If they've never been saved, that line doesn't appear.
Common workflow — count only open, meaningful findings
- Open Exposure Management → Admin → Dashboard Filters.
- Turn Enable Filtering on.
- Under Severities, click the Info card to exclude it (or use Exclude All and re-include the others).
- Under States, click the Fixed card to exclude it.
- Check the Impact Summary — it shows how many findings will now be hidden.
- Click Save Filter Settings. Everyone's dashboards update to count only open, meaningful findings.
